Madama Butterfly

Madama Butterfly Review

The Madama Butterfly animation was an interesting opera.  It was probably the first full opera I have ever watched but it had an engaging plot line to it.  A women had a sex with a sailor and then he sailed away and she was pregnant.  She had their kid and waited for his arrival back home.  The women did not cut the umbilical cord so they remained connected.  The sailor finally arrived back and he pulled up in a car with a tall blonde women and kids in the back seats.  He walked up to the women and took their kid and cut the umbilical cord to separate them.  The women is devastated and alone when he leaves and she appears very sad.

Watching this video as a girl I can understand how she must feel in this video.  Getting your baby taken away from you could possibly be the worst thing to have happen to you.  Not to mention this women was probably picturing a life together with this sailor and I can only imagine the disappointment when he pulled up with another women.  Her reaction to all this was ripping out her insides which actually makes sense.  The whole time I felt bad for her because she was all alone and she got so blindsided but her sailor boyfriend.

Watching this video from the viewpoint of the sailor I have a hard time understanding why he did what he did.  I can't imagine having kids with more than one women at one time and then to take one kid away from the mother makes it even worse.  Obviously this video had no words but the women did not even get an explanation.  So in this video this sailor is obviously the bad guy.
