Emily Proffitt Electronics Assignment October 16, 2017 In 2007, the world was changed when Amazon released their first ever e-reader, the Kindle. The Kindle has largely impacted society by being able to carry hundreds of books, magazines, and newspapers in just one tiny device that is equivalent to one printed book. Ever since the kindle was released ebook sales have skyrocketed while actual paper book sales are decreasing. The kindle was sold out within the first six hours it went on the market, and while it faces some competitors out there, such as the Nook or the Apple iPad, it remains the most popular. According to the Association of American Publishers, e-books consisted of 6.4 percent of the total books being sold. Raul Cuero's interview on creativity was filled with so much interesting information. In the beginning he talks about how both his parents could not read or write but he promised himself he would never be like that so he focused extra hard in school to be the person he wanted. When he went to Colombia for school he experienced discrimination for the first time and people would make him think that he had no value off the basketball court. He turned his negativity into something positive and furthered his education so he could prove himself to people. He now has nine scientific inventions to his name and is very successful. We sat on the group and took white plastic cups and stapled them together to get the three snowman balls. One of the girls I was working with has never had the opportunity to build a snowman. However, me being from Delaware, which gets snow constituently through January and February, I've build plenty of snowmen. We got a lot of weird looks from people as they walked by and wondered what we were doing. One women even came up to us and asked if this was for a class. Our three influences for this piece were : Gilbert & George - The Singing Sculpture which is an 8 hour singing sculpture performance. I like how they took the a idea of a sculpture which is an inanimate object and made it live. Stelarc's "Ear on Arm" sculpture and project. Ste...
